Park Mains High School

Park Mains High School is Renfrewshire's largest secondary school situated in the Park Mains area of Erskine, taking in students from the town as well as Bishopton, Inchinnan and Langbank.Renfrewshire Council granted a new multi-million pound rebuild of Park Mains High School which opened in August 2012 and saw the demolition of the old school buildingHead Teacher since 1995, Robert Fawkes retired in August 2008 and was replaced by Michael Dewar, previously the head teacher of Auchenharvie Academy, Ayrshire.New School Building (2012-present)The new building which was completed and opened in August 2012 breathes a fresh new life into the school. The building offers a larger, brighter space for the pupils to feel in a social hub whilst still being in a controlled learning environment. One key feature of the school is the central 'street area' flooded with natural sunlight and creating a more encouraging and peaceful school space. The schools new Sports Complex boasts an enormous multi-use games hall and gymnasium. In the fitness suite several pieces of equipment have built in TV channels and the room has 2 flat-screen tvs blasting out the latest charts hits.Along with the move to the new building, the school initiated a smarter uniform to help improve the ethos of the school. This required blazers for all S5 and S6 pupils, and girls to wear skirts of approved length.All the staff and pupils at Park Mains High School will continue to keep up the appearance of this multi-million pound building for many years to come.Old School Building (circa.1970-2012)The school was built in the 1970s and after many attempts it was announced in June 2009 that there will be a £33 million pound rebuild of the school on the existing playing fields.
